Musings

Do you ever wonder....

Why our moods are so dependent on our circumstances?

Why when mom's happy everybody's happy?

Why we need human contact? Why can't we be satisfied with being alone? People always fail us.

I guess I'm in a melancholy type of mood. The dreary winter days get to me.

However, I'm sitting in front of a blue light which I hope will give me a new burst of energy.

Sad, contemplative, removed...

But bright colors help lift my spirits....

Music to God lifts my spirits more...

Friends help too...

Matchboxes
Open top boxes.

Of course, these boxes aren't limited to weddings. I've made some for anniversaries, dinner parties, birthday parties and more! Check out PipingHotPapers for more party ideas!

Cauliflower, Carrot and Cashew Pie

This was one of the first recipes I made when I became a vegetarian. This is a very comforting dish.

1 9-inch pie crust (top and bottom)
4 cups cauliflower
4 med. carrots
1/2 cup cashews (raw or roasted)
2 cups peas
2 Tablespoons light cream (or soy milk or regular milk)
1/2 teas. pepper

Steam cauliflower and carrots. Puree half of this with cashews and cream. Add small amounts of water to blend more easily. Place this mixture in an unbaked piecrust and top with remaining carrots and cauliflower. Sprinkle peas on top and put top crust in place. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.

Serve with cashew gravy and a salad.

How to Fold a Petal Box

Folding a petal box is quite simple once you get the hang of it. First, fill your box with the treat of your choice (e.g., M&M's, Peppermint Patty, nuts or other small treats). I haven't put anything in these boxes since they are in my shop and I didn't want to get them dirty.

Start with any side and begin by folding the point toward the middle.

Continue tucking in the points of each petal until you reach the last side. You might need to bend the paper slightly, but it shouldn't crease.

At the base of the box, you may need to push the corners together so the top closes completely.
